Common questions

Is this legally binding in Vietnam?

Yes. SayPDF E-Sign is compliant with Vietnam's Law on Electronic Transactions 2023 (Luật Giao dịch điện tử 20/2023/QH15). Electronic signatures — not just digital PKI signatures — are legally recognized for most business contracts including service agreements, NDAs, and employment contracts. The audit trail we generate serves as legal evidence.

Does the signer need to create an account?

No. Signers receive a secure link by email. They open it in any browser, view the document, draw or type their signature, and submit — all without creating an account or downloading anything. This maximizes completion rates.

What's the difference between electronic signature and digital signature?

SayPDF provides both. The visual signature (drawn or typed) is the electronic signature. Additionally, we embed a PKCS#7 cryptographic signature into the PDF using our certificate. This means Adobe Reader shows "Signed and all signatures are valid" — the same validation used by enterprise systems. The cryptographic signature proves the document hasn't been modified after signing.

How do I know if a document has been tampered with?

Every signed PDF has a SHA-256 hash recorded at signing time, and the embedded PKCS#7 signature covers the entire document. If anyone modifies even one byte after signing, Adobe Reader will show "Signature is invalid". We also provide a Certificate of Completion PDF with the original and signed hashes for your records.

Can I use this via API in my own app?

Yes. All paid plans include REST API access. The Pro plan and above include webhooks for real-time events. You can also use API-only access at $0.20 per document with no monthly fee — ideal for low-volume integrations.

How long are documents stored?

Documents are stored for 12 months after completion. You can download signed PDFs and Certificates at any time. Business plan users can configure custom retention policies for GDPR compliance.
