Online invoicing for freelancers
and small businesses
Write legally numbered invoices in your browser, let recurring ones send themselves, and turn every paid WooCommerce or Stripe order into an invoice — as a PDF and a ZUGFeRD / Factur-X e-invoice, archived for your accountant.

The parts that are tedious by hand and expensive to get wrong are the parts SayPDF does for you.
Write it in a minute
Pick a customer from your address book, add lines, see the finished PDF update as you type. Mixed VAT rates, discounts, shipping, service dates.
Recurring invoices
Retainers, subscriptions, rent: weekly to yearly, issued on the date with a fresh number and — if you like — emailed to your client.
WooCommerce & Stripe
Paste one webhook address and every paid order becomes an invoice with the buyer’s address and VAT ID. No access to your account needed.
Zapier, Make & any app
A signed webhook takes orders from anywhere — Etsy, PayPal, a form, your CRM. One JSON shape, documented, with duplicates ignored.
Clients fill in their own details
Send a link; your client enters company name, address, VAT ID and billing email themselves. No more retyping from emails.
200+ designs, your logo
Pick a design from the gallery, add your logo and colour. Every invoice after that uses it.
Gap-free numbering
Numbers are allocated when you issue, never twice and never skipped. Corrections go through a credit note, as tax law expects.
ZUGFeRD / Factur-X
Each invoice is a PDF/A-3 with the EN 16931 XML inside — ready for the 2027/2028 B2B e-invoicing mandates in Germany and France.
Archive & DATEV export
The issued file is stored and handed back unchanged. Export CSV or a DATEV batch for your tax advisor in one click.
Your customers and orders, five ways in
A shop platform hands its invoicing app every order. Without one, the data has to come from somewhere — so there are several doors, and you use whichever fits.
- Address bookType a client once; every later invoice is a dropdown.
- CSV importBring customers and items from Excel or your previous tool. German and English column names, decimal commas, semicolons — all read.
- Client self-service linkYour client fills in their own billing details; the record lands in your address book.
- Shop & paymentsWooCommerce orders and Stripe payments arrive with the buyer’s data and become invoices on their own.
- Zapier, Make, APIAnything that can send a web request can create an invoice.

Questions
Do I need a shop to use it?
No. Most people write their invoices by hand in the browser. If you do sell online, WooCommerce orders and Stripe payments can be connected so every paid order becomes an invoice on its own.
Is it really free?
Yes — 10 invoices a month as PDF and ZUGFeRD / Factur-X, archived, with no time limit. The free plan cannot email your customers (you download the PDF or share a link) and prints a small “Created with SayPDF” line. Both go away on any paid plan.
Why can the free plan not send emails?
Because a free account that can send mail to strangers is how a sending domain ends up on a blocklist — and then nobody’s invoices arrive. Sending unlocks 24 hours after your first payment.
Where does my customer data come from without Shopify?
Five ways: you type it once into the address book, you import a CSV from Excel or your old invoicing tool, you send your client a link to fill in their own details, a connected WooCommerce shop or Stripe account sends it with every order, or any app sends it through Zapier, Make or our signed webhook.
Can I change an invoice after issuing it?
No, and that is on purpose: an issued invoice keeps its number and content. A mistake is corrected with a credit note, which is what tax law in Germany, France and the rest of the EU expects. Drafts can be edited freely — they have no number yet.
Is this an e-invoice for the 2027/2028 B2B mandate?
Every invoice is a PDF/A-3 with the EN 16931 XML embedded (ZUGFeRD / Factur-X), the format the German and French mandates accept. Your customer sees a normal invoice; their accounting software reads the data.
